Cordless Hoover Sales: How to Get a Genuinely Good Deal
Cordless hoovers are discounted constantly in the UK, but only some of those discounts are real. The best deals usually appear around Black Friday, Prime Day, January and when a new model replaces an old one. A good deal is the right model for your home, at or below its usual low price, from a retailer with proper returns and warranty.
Quick answer: Decide on your model first (see our best cordless hoover guide). Then check its price history, compare the exact model code at three or four retailers, and buy when it's at or near its lowest. Ignore "was" prices and countdown timers. We don't publish live deals, because prices change hourly. This page shows you how to judge them.

The UK cordless hoover sale calendar
Discounts follow a predictable yearly pattern. Exact dates vary each year, and our best time to buy guide covers each period in more depth.
| When | What usually happens | Worth waiting for? |
|---|---|---|
| January sales | Clearance of Christmas stock and older models | Yes, for previous-generation models |
| Easter / spring | "Spring clean" promotions, especially Shark, Vax, Kärcher | Sometimes |
| Spring–summer launches | New models arrive, outgoing ones drop | Yes, if you're happy with last year's model |
| Amazon Prime Day (summer) and autumn Prime event | Big drops on Shark, Dyson, Tineco, Dreame; rivals often match | Yes |
| Black Friday / Cyber Monday (late Nov) | Widest discounts of the year across brands | Usually the best time |
| Boxing Day | Similar to Black Friday prices on many models | Yes, if you missed November |
If your hoover has died and you need one now, don't wait months for a sale. Most popular models are discounted for part of every month. Read our Black Friday guide for how that event works.
How to check whether a discount is real
- Get the exact model code. "Shark Anti Hair Wrap" covers several models and bundles. Codes like IZ202UK vs IZ202UKT are different bundles. Dyson uses names such as "Absolute", "Origin" and "Total Clean" for different tool sets.
- Check price history. Price trackers that record Amazon UK prices, such as Keepa or CamelCamelCamel, show the real typical and lowest prices over months. If a "deal" is the same as the normal price for most of the past three months, it isn't really a deal.
- Compare three or four retailers on the same day: the brand's own site, Amazon, Argos, Currys, John Lewis and AO.
- Ignore "was" prices. A product may have been at the higher price only briefly. UK pricing rules expect reference prices to be genuine, but they're still a weak guide.
- Check the seller. On Amazon and eBay, check whether it's sold by the brand, Amazon or a third party. Marketplace imports may have non-UK plugs or no UK warranty.
Model-year and bundle traps
Watch out: the most common "deal" trap is a big discount on a model that's about to be replaced, or one that has already been replaced and is sold as if it were current.
- Old generations: a Dyson V8 or V10 at a big discount can still be good value, but compare it with what a current model costs. See our Dyson sale guide for typical price bands.
- Stripped-down bundles: a cheap price may mean fewer tools, no anti-hair-wrap head, no second battery or no dock. Compare what's in the box.
- Retailer exclusives: bundles with unique codes are harder to compare. Find the nearest equivalent elsewhere.
- Grey imports: non-UK models may not be covered by the UK warranty or parts network.
- Refurbished vs new: refurbished can be excellent value but check who refurbished it, the warranty length and the battery. See refurbished cordless hoovers.
What a good price looks like
We don't give live prices, but these patterns hold across most of the market:
| Tier | Typical full price band | Good sale price (rough guide) |
|---|---|---|
| Budget sticks (Beldray, Russell Hobbs, Morphy Richards) | £70–£150 | Under £80–£100 |
| Mid-range (Shark Anti Hair Wrap, Vax ONEPWR, Gtech) | £200–£300 | £150–£220 |
| Upper-mid (Shark Stratos/Detect Pro, Dyson V11/V12) | £300–£450 | £230–£350 |
| Premium (Dyson V15/Gen5detect, Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty) | £450–£700 | £350–£550 |
These are broad bands to help you judge a discount. Models and launch prices change, so always check the specific model's price history. Brand pages like Shark sale patterns go into more detail.
Where to look
- Brand stores (Dyson, Shark, Vax, Gtech): exclusive bundles, extended warranty registration and official refurbished stock.
- Amazon UK: deep discounts during Prime events. Check that the seller is the brand or Amazon.
- Argos: quick collection and in-store returns. See our Argos buying guide.
- Currys, AO, John Lewis: price matching or extended guarantees from some retailers, plus trade-in or recycling options.
- Costco, supermarkets, discount stores: occasional bargains on specific models, but often older generations.
Signs of a fake or poor-value deal
- Countdown timers and "only 2 left" on retailer sites are a sales tactic, not information. The same price often comes back a week later.
- Unbranded "Dyson-style" sticks with huge suction claims at £60–£90. Pascal figures on these listings are often unverifiable, and spares rarely exist.
- Prices far below every other retailer from an unknown website. This is a classic sign of a scam shop. Check company details and reviews, and pay by credit card for Section 75 protection on purchases over £100.
- "Free gifts" that pad out a bundle with tools you won't use, at a price higher than the plain model elsewhere.
Before you buy in a sale: quick checklist
- Is it the right type for your floors and home? (See how to choose.)
- Is the battery removable or replaceable, and is a spare available?
- Does the guarantee need registration, and how long is it?
- What's the returns window if it doesn't suit you?
- Is this price at or below the model's usual low?
FAQs
When are cordless hoovers cheapest in the UK?
Usually around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, with Prime Day and the January sales close behind. Previous-generation models also drop sharply when their replacements launch.
Do Dyson cordless hoovers ever go on sale?
Yes, regularly, both on Dyson's own site and at retailers, with the biggest drops on older models. Our Dyson sale guide covers the patterns.
Is it safe to buy a cordless hoover from a marketplace seller?
It can be, but you may get an import without a UK plug, warranty or safety markings. Prefer listings sold by the brand, Amazon or a major UK retailer.
Is a refurbished cordless hoover a good deal?
Official refurbished units with a decent warranty can offer excellent value. Third-party refurbs vary widely, especially in battery health, so check the warranty length and who did the refurbishment.
